How RPL works

Formal Learning: Convert your structured education programs, like certificates, diplomas, or university degrees, into recognised qualifications.

Non-Formal Learning: Turn your in-house professional development and training programs into certified competencies.

Informal Learning: Leverage your real-world experiences from work, social interactions, hobbies, or family life to gain formal recognition.

RPL opens doors for those who haven’t followed the conventional education path. Whether you’re an aspiring hairdresser, barber, makeup artist, or beauty therapist, RPL allows you to leverage your work experience to gain qualifications. This recognition can catapult your career, providing the boost you need to secure higher-paying, more prestigious roles.

One of the standout benefits of RPL is its acknowledgment of learning outside the classroom. For instance, if you’re a hairstylist, the skills you’ve honed on the salon floor, like creating intricate updos or mastering balayage techniques, are invaluable. RPL validates these skills, allowing you to showcase your expertise to potential employers.

RPL is perfect for those who’ve acquired skills independently. It formally recognises your capabilities, enabling career advancement without the need for years of additional schooling. This is a game-changer for beauty professionals looking to transition into new roles or specialisations quickly.

With an RPL, you can seamlessly progress to further education or training programs. It’s a fast track to higher qualifications or specialised courses. Whether you’re aiming for an advanced hairdressing certificate, a barbering qualification, or a makeup artistry diploma, RPL makes it easier and faster to achieve your academic and professional goals.

RPL streamlines your education by eliminating unnecessary repetition of material you’re already familiar with. This efficient approach saves time and reduces frustration, allowing you to focus on learning new techniques and advancing your career.

RPL shortens the time needed to earn a qualification. This is particularly motivating for those who might be daunted by lengthy traditional courses. With RPL, you can quickly gain the credentials you need without sacrificing your job or personal life.

Working in the beauty industry requires creativity, skill, and dedication. RPL helps you recognise and celebrate your achievements, boosting your pride and self-esteem. It validates your skills and the significant contributions you make in your field.

RPL enhances your understanding of learning as a continuous journey. Recognising your past experiences as valuable learning moments encourages you to pursue further education and professional development. This lifelong learning mindset sets you up for ongoing success.

Combination of pathways

At Colour Cosmetica Academy, we recognise that students applying for RPL may have gained competencies through work and life experiences but might also have gaps in their skills or need training in new areas.

In these cases, a combination of pathways may be appropriate. The process begins with an initial assessment to determine the student’s current competencies. Based on this assessment, a tailored learning and assessment programme is designed to address any identified gaps, ensuring that students acquire the additional competencies required.
