Certificate III in Beauty Services: Body & Aromatherapy Pathway
Begin a career in the beauty industry, specialising in Body & Aromatherapy massages
Course code: SHB30121
Develop specialised skills and gain understanding of massage techniques and blending aromatherapy oils to take your career in beauty to the next level.

Aromatherapy centres around holistic medicine that utilises extracts from natural plants for health and wellbeing.
Many massage therapists apply aromatic essential oils therapeutically combined with their massage techniques to improve their client’s physical and emotional health.
Aromatherapy works by stimulating receptors in the nose responsible for smell, sending messages by olfactory cells to the part of the brain that controls the drive for survival, emotions, and instinct called the limbic system. The olfactory cells recognise scents as specific aromatic molecules that fit into receptors on these cells. Scientists believe that these nerve signals’ action causes powerful mood changes in response to particular smells.
Massage therapy, combined with essential oils, candles and incense, stimulates positive emotions and relaxation, equipping clients with coping mechanisms for many other health issues.
An aromatherapy massage is a unique way to help clients achieve better health and wellbeing. Learning aromatherapy massage will add a new dimension to your beauty menu of skills and healing work.
Individuals embrace a range of well-developed technical and customer service skills where accountability and intelligence is required. Therapists are responsible for their own productivities.
This includes being highly skilled in interacting with customers, reception areas, client consultations and care, beauty and cosmetic product knowhow’s, product visual merchandising, whilst providing a range of sophisticated beauty services including: knowledge of skin and body structures and functions that promote secure skills in body massage and stone therapy massage.
You will also expand skills in innovative make-up applications and designs, face and body waxing, the latest on manicures and pedicures, lash and brow trends, treatments and designs, cosmetic body tanning, whilst maintaining the health and wellbeing of your environments and promoting healthy nutritional options to your clients.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment process that recognises an individual’s existing skills, knowledge, and experience towards the achievement of an Australian nationally recognised qualification or Statement of Attainment.
Skills and knowledge may have been gained through:
- Employment and industry experience
- Formal training and education (including Credit Transfer where applicable)
- Informal training and professional development
- Self-directed learning
- General life experience
- Volunteer and community-based work
As part of the RPL process, applicants are required to provide evidence demonstrating their competency against the requirements of the qualification. Where gaps in skills or knowledge are identified, gap training and/or additional assessment may be required before competency can be awarded.
